Hi Kindergarten Families,
It was great to see some of you at the Harvest Festival on Friday!
Here is what’s going on in Kindergarten this week:
Art/Music/Science: Students will study spiders and they will be making glittery spider webs, spider hats and learning the different body parts of a spider. They will also make a Halloween cat art project and learn a fun rhyming poem that focuses on the “_at” word family.
Reading: We will continue to study short “-a-” words through this week’s reader, “Go Cat”. We will specifically focus on the “_an” word family (can, man, tan, fan, etc).
Word of the Week: “and”.
Math: Students will practice counting forwards and backwards within 20 using the number line and “counting collections”. They will continue to practice a variety of math strategies with partner collaboration to solve word problems and number sentences. They are using a number line to tell addition/subtraction stories in class. We have just finished Unit 1 in our Bridges math curriculum so we are sending home the Bridges math workbook in their folders on Monday. This is completely optional, however we encourage you to work with your child in these books to review and practice the math concepts that we have been working on in class.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Sandman
Picture day is this Friday! Please be on time. We will be first for pictures. You need to have order ready that day. You can do it on-line or turn in the paper work by Friday morning.
